My Point Is...The mouth of Meth

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Hello. This is Meth speaking, and I wanted to get some facts straight on this “War on Drugs” that keeps being talked about in the newspapers, TV, and radio.

Law enforcement in the area has waged an attack on drugs, at a more diligent effort than in the past. Just last week, around 23 grams (almost two ounces) was confiscated from people in the Laurel community.

Although those arrests may have put a setback in the meth movement, it probably won’t end it because I, Meth, have gotten a stronghold on so many people in this county and across the United States. I’m cheap, I’m easy and I  takes you away from the real world to create one of my own.

Meth is easily made - just throw a handful of household chemicla, mix it in a two-liter pop bottle, and wha-lah! In a short amount of time, you will have your own concoction to use, sell, or both.

If you’re really lucky, you’ll mix it just right and the pop bottle won’t explode and the neighbors won’t smell it and report you to the police.

There is no age limit on meth. Anyone can use it. I’ve watched people in their 60s take me into their system and with their other health problems, it’s a miracle that I didn’t split their hearts open. If you shoot me in your veins and miss, you may lose your arm - but you’re willing to risk that because you want to get high. It’s a death wish that could happen at any time.

I can take your world and turn it upside down. Family, jobs, and moral values don’t matter anymore. All that matters is the next high.

Don’t listen to those rumors about meth rotting your teeth. Tooth decay is common in this part of the country. Besides, a lot of meth-heads have false teeth already - and they’ve utilized government programs and free medical services to get the teeth that you non-users pay in tax money from your jobs.

Meth users don’t worry about getting a tan. I give them a color of their own  - the oxygen-deprived gray that marks frequent drug and alcohol abusers.

They don’t worry about paying bills or buying groceries. Food is not important on meth. When they come down, they sleep it off.  When they get up, they can swing from nice to nasty in a split second, so their demands for food, drink, money, or whatever are immediately met or they can become extremely violent.

They don’t need money to survive - they can always make more meth, get a good buzz, and sell the rest to get what they need. If all else fails, they can find some scrap metal or some electronics or tools for a quick sale.

It doesn’t matter if it belongs to someone else - if they need it to survive in our world, it is only right for us to use it for our benefit.

Even if they do get arrested, they’re usually get out pretty quick - sometimes with just a signature and no money to pay. They get on house arrest, so they can stay home, make more meth to pay their lawyer and the house arrest fees.

It doesn’t hurt kids when they make the stuff in the house where they are. The kids usually are in another room so they won’t see what’s happening. The police and social services just over-react and exaggerate.

Meth heads are good people who just want to get that same high the first time they tried me. They know they never will again, but I drive them to keep trying.

I have them in my grasp and I don’t let go easily. I take over the mind, putting family and responsibility at the bottom of the priority list.

I don’t understand why people are so against me. I destroy health, I destroy families, I destroy society. But if none of that matters to you, come join the Meth Train. It’s a ride you will never forget - if you live to tell it.
