LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A complaint of a domestic violence on Saturday night sent Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Hoskins to Arthur Ridge Road, five miles north of London around 9:40 p.m.

There they found 21-year-old Anthony R. Thompson of West Ky. 1376 in East Bernstadt, where he had allegedly shoved his grandfather during an argument. The elderly man had reportedly fallen over a table and suffered a back injury.

Thompson was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center and was held under a $2,500 surety bond. He was released on Sunday afternoon.

About three hours later, Deputy Josh Scott responded to a report of a fight in progress on Old Crab Orchard Road, three miles north of London, around 12:40 p.m.

When Scott arrived at the scene, he located 51-year-old Jeffery C. Cawood of Old Crab Orchard Road in London. The other subjects who had reportedly been involved in the fight had already left the scene.

Cawood was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place. In addition, he was charged with a District Court bench warrant on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third offense. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center following his arrest but posted a $184 cash bond and was released just after 8 a.m. that morning.
