LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The man who broke into and robbed the south Laurel Radio Shack earlier this year will serve a two-year prison sentence for his crime.
Corey Wooley. 20, of Corbin entered a guilty plea to third-degree robbery.
In addition to the jail time, Wooley must also pay $300 to the store owner for damages to the facility. Wooley is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. in Laurel Circuit Court.
Wooley was arrested one week after a robbery occurred at the Radio Shack store in Corbin on July 9 of this year.
Through the use of the store’s video surveillance, Laurel County Sheriff’s officials determined the burglar had ridden a motorcycle to the store and disconnected the electrical power to the building, which is located in a strip mall in the southern end of the county. The thief, later identified as Wooley, returned a hour later and used a screwdriver to pry open a rear door and enter the building, where he took $200 from a cash drawer.
Although Wooley admitted to the crime, he allegedly told police he and another person were involved in the burglary, but when the indictment was returned by a Laurel grand jury in August, only Wooley was named.
