A Barbourville woman was arrested after she ran her car into a ditchline and was still seated inside when law enforcement arrived at the scene.

Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott went to Sasser School Road, three miles south of London, around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about a one-vehicle accident.

When Parrott arrived at the scene, he spotted a white Oldsmobile Alero in a ditchline, with a female still seated in the vehicle. Parrott determined the woman - 29-year-old Tabatha Edwards of Shelby Street in Barbourville - was under the influence. During the investigation, Edwards disclosed that she had taken Trezadone and smoked marijuana earlier.

She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, no insurance and other traffic violations before being lodged in the Laurel Detention Center. Jail records indicate that Edwards was released from custody around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday under a $2,500 surety bond. No future court date was listed.
