Two arrested in undercover meth sting

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back arrested Edith M. Jones, 56, of Old Lynn Camp School Road, Corbin, charging her with numerous drug offenses on Monday, Dec. 16 at 8:59 p.m. The arrest was the result of an undercover investigation where Jones allegedly sold an individual 3.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

When arrested she was also found in possession of more crystal methamphetamine. she was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine); first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine); and theft by unlawful taking $500 or more.

Also arrested was: Kenneth W. Smallwood, 38, of Robert Cox Road, Corbin, who was charged with  first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine). He was found in possession of more than 14 grams of  crystal methamphetamine when located by deputies. He also had a large amount of U.S. currency.

Both subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Larry Parrott assisted on the arrests.
