Two DUI arrests in same vehicle

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, along with Deputy Robbie Grimes, Deputy Larry Parrott, and Constable Tim May, investigated subjects who had allegedly driven a grey Pontiac van to a business parking lot, four miles south of London, off Ky. 229 on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 7:01 p.m. Deputies found open containers of alcoholic beverages in the vehicle. Deputies determined the driver was obviously under the influence.

Franklin S. Early, 54, of Newland Drive, London, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence; driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense; possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited; and no insurance card.

Also arrested for driving the same van, following an investigation at the scene, was  Taneha J. Whiteaker, 38, of Newland Drive, London, who was charged with  operating a motor vehicle under the influence; driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense; and numerous other traffic violations. She was also charged with second-degree disorderly conduct because, during the investigation, she continued cursing deputies and creating a disturbance.

A third person in the van that was determined to be just a passenger was also arrested. Shelley D. Baiarrio, 33, of Paris Karr Road, Corbin, was arrested and charged on a Whitley County bench warrant on four outstanding traffic charges.

All three subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
