Father arrested for child abuse

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy  Tyler Morris was dispatched to a complaint that a mother had brought her 3-year-old son to Saint Joseph London who may have been the victim of child abuse on Sunday, Aug. 25 at about 3:30 p.m.

When Deputy Morris arrived at the hospital, he learned the mother had picked the child up at his father’s house and noticed a red hand print had welted up across the side of the child’s face. Deputy Morris, along with Social Services, continued the investigation. At 3:57 p.m. Deputy Morris made contact with the father at his residence in southern Laurel County and following his investigation arrested Dustin L. Humfleet, 24, of Corbin, charging him with fourth-degree assault (child abuse), and lodged him in the Laurel County Detention Center.
