Shoplifter arrested

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter arrested Larry Helton, 35, of Sulfridge Road, London, on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 8:04 p.m. at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County.

Helton was detainment by Walmart’s loss prevention team until deputies arrived at the scene. Helton was charged with shoplifting and prescription of a controlled substance not in its proper container, 1st offense.

During his arrest, a prescription bottle was found in Helton’s possession, containing three types of prescription medication, but the bottle was not for any of the medication found.

Helton was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
