Shoplifter takes shower curtain, shirts

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A Corbin woman who picked out some merchandise from the Corbin Walmart store and tried to return it was arrested on shoplifting charges.

The arrest came on Monday night around 9:24 p.m. in the southern Laurel store after Jennifer Lovett, 23, chose some shirts, a shower curtain and hooks and took them for a refund to the service desk. When the service desk associate required Lovett to show identification, Lovett left the items at the desk but returned with ID in order to get the refund.

The Walmart Loss Prevention team then intervened, detaining Lovett at the store until Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott arrived and took Lovett into custody.

She is now charged with theft by unlawful taking or dispensing - shoplifting. She was held under a $1,000 cash bond and set for an arraignment hearing in Laurel District Court on Wednesday.
