LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — An argument at a gas station/food mart on U.S. 25 on Wednesday night landed a Laurel man in jail for creating a public disturbance.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott went to the scene in southern Laurel County after receiving a call of a disturbance at store. Upon his arrival, he saw two men arguing with one another — one of which was the store owner.

When Parrott intervened, he determined 35-year-old Bryan D. Cornett of Cherokee Lane in London was under the influence.

The investigation into the incident revealed Cornett had been asked several times to leave the property and to not come back to the store.

Cornett was arrested for public intoxication of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal trespassing. But when he continued his outbursts after being placed inside the police cruiser, he had additional charges added for second-degree disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after an open syringe with an unknown substance inside was found in his clothing.
