Three arrested for trafficking drugs

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — When Laurel County Sheriff’s Detectives Jason Back and Brad Mitchell went to Church Lane Tuesday evening, they discovered an illegal drug trafficking operation.

Jimmie Canada, 64, of Brooks Road in Williamsburg, 29-year-old Ashley Sulfridge of Ky. 770, and 37-year-old Jackie Sulfridge of Ted Ball Road in Williamsburg were charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense for Oxycodone pills. Ashley and Jackie Sulfridge were also wanted on Whitley County warrants for manufacturing methamphetamine. Jackie Sulfridge was also wanted for being a persistent felony offender in Whitley County.

According to the sheriff’s report, the trio were allegedly working together to obtain and sell 10 Oxycodone pills to another person. The price tag on the prescription pain killers was approximately $440.

At the residence, detectives found prescription pills and a large quantity of money.

All three were arraigned in Laurel District Court on Wednesday morning. They are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and each is  held under a $10,000 cash bond.

Assisting Back and Mitchell in the investigation and arrests were Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Robbie Grimes.
