LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The sound of gunshots prompted neighbors on Ravenwood Lane to contact police just before midnight Monday, and a Laurel man was arrested as part of the investigation.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Mikey Ashurst and Deputy Larry Parrott answered the call of an altercation at a residence, two miles south of London, around 11:26 p.m. Sunday. The alleged altercation involved gunshots being fired at a residence near the caller’s home.
The deputies went to the scene where the gunshots were fired and found 23-year-old Floyd A. Hammond, who appeared to be intoxicated. They also noticed drug paraphernalia nearby as well as a small marijuana plant inside the residence and a 3-foot tall plant growing outside the residence.
Hammond was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, cultivating five plants or less of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
