LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A routine traffic stop on Wednesday night turned up pills and a concealed weapon which landed two people in jail.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter conducted the stop and discovered that 30-year-old Eric Grubb of Keavy Road had a concealed weapon in the vehicle. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and several traffic charges.

His passenger, 30-year-old Glenda L. Grubb, also of Keavy Road, was arrested for having a silver metal container with 18 pills inside it and a white plastic bottle with 17 pills inside. She also had traffic violations. Both were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Deputy Robbie Grimes assisted in the investigation and arrests.

In an unrelated incident earlier that day, Grimes and Poynter arrested 45-year-old Alex Martinez of Clark Lane in Lily after her gold Toyota Avalon was stopped on Byrley Road in Lily. Martinez admitted drinking four beers before he began driving, and a search of his person netted the discovery of two more beers inside his pockets. Martinez also had a bench warrant from Knox County for failing to appear for a scheduled court date.

He was lodged in the Laurel Count Detention Center following his arrest.
