Woman threatens daughter, grandchildren

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Robbie Grimes was dispatched to a disturbance complaint on Mt. Zion Road, 12 miles north of London, on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m.

When Deputy Grimes arrived at the scene, he determined the person who phoned in the complaint had apparently made a false report. The caller had made threats she was going to kill her daughter and her two grandchildren.

Kelly A. Pickett, 51, of East Bernstadt was charged with falsely reporting an incident; third-degree terroristic threatening; and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence.) She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Shoplifters arrested

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott arrested two female subjects at Walmart in southern Laurel County after receiving a complaint that Walmart’s loss prevention team discovered them shoplifting on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3:10  p.m.

Tina R. King, 42, of Williamsburg, and Joanie J. King, 29, of Siler were both charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting). In addition, Joanie King was charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance after Deputy Parrott determined she was under the influence. Reportedly, she had taken Xanax.

Both subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
