LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A party ended a bit earlier than planned when police arrived at a Maplesville School Road residence just after midnight Saturday.

Joann McHone, 48, of 716 Maplesville School Road in London, was arrested and charged with third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Reports of gunshots being fired and persons fighting sent Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Kirk Mays, Deputy Brett Reeves, and Deputy Shawn Boroviak to the residence, five miles east of London around 12:25 a.m. Sunday.

The investigating deputies determined that McHone was inside the residence with several teens, but she refused to open the door. According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, McHone finally opened the door after more than 10 minutes, where the deputies found several underage juveniles under the influence of alcohol. McHone also showed signs of alcohol consumption.

Jail records indicate that McHone was placed under a $1,000 cash bond and was released around 11 a.m. Sunday. She was scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Wednesday morning in Laurel District Court.
