Arrests net 70 grams of crystal meth

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Drug trafficking investigations by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday resulted in the arrests of four persons on various charges as well as a quantity of crystal meth.

The arrests came as part of an undercover investigation by Detectives Jason Back and Brad Mitchell concerning multiple persons trafficking crystal meth. Traffic stops and search warrants were executed.

Those arrested were:

• Shane Begley, 42, of Ky. 3434 in East Bernstadt, was arrested on Johnson Road, one mile east of London, at 5:45 p.m. for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.

• Steve Floyd, 52, of Sinking Creek Road in London, was arrested on Keavy Road, two miles west of London, around 3 p.m. for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense as well as an indictment warrant on two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.

• Joyce Mounce, 59, of Jackson Road in East Bernstadt, was arrested on Parker Street, two miles east of London, at 5 p.m. on two charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.

• Teddy Vaughn, 51, of Vaughn Ridge Road in London was found on McWhorter Road, one mile east of London, at 5:45 p.m. He is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.

Assisting in the investigation and arrests were Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore, Lt. Rodney Van Zant, Deputy James Sizemore, Deputy Robbie Grimes, Deputy Greg Turner, London Police Sgt. Danny Robinson, London Police Officer K-9 Unit Shannon Morgan, and the London office of the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agency).
