LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

The calls of a burglary in progress resulted in the arrests of two people for making a false report.

The incident began with calls to Laurel 9-1-1 Dispatch of a possible robbery in progress on Four Oaks Road, six miles north of London, around 11:30 Saturday night.

But when Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies Daniel Grigsby, Josh Scott, and Mikey Ashurst arrived at the residence, they got conflicting stories from the two people at the scene regarding who and what had happened at the residence.

As the investigation continued, the deputies agreed no burglary had occurred. Instead, they discovered the female — Lukeshia N. Collett-Sowder, 40, of Drewey Lane in London — had been smoking meth before calling 9-1-1. The male subject — 38-year-old Anthony Vaughn of Four Oaks Road in East Bernstadt — admitted he too had been smoking meth prior to the deputies’ arrival. In addition, he admitted to taking pain pills and drinking beer before deputies arrived.

Collett-Sowder was charged with public intoxication of controlled substances, while Vaughn was arrested for falsely reporting an incident and public intoxication of controlled substances. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center following their arrests.
