LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott was dispatched to a complaint that a house had been broken into on Somerset Road, two miles west of London, on Tuesday, June 25 at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Two juveniles — a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, both of Laurel County — were charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.
When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene, he learned the thieves had gained entry by breaking out a window in the house. An investigation at the scene showed extensive damage to the interior of the house, including a lot of glass breakage. Approximately $3,000 damage was done to the house.
As he continued the investigation, Parrott was able to develop the name of two possible suspects, who had been seen at the residence. The suspects were interviewed by Parrott, who then determined they had in fact broken into the house. The suspects were juveniles.
Deputy Parrott contacted a court designated worker, who is assigned to deal with juvenile cases, and was advised they could be charged and cited to juvenile court.
The two are scheduled for a court hearing in Laurel Juvenile Court.
