DUI arrest at crash scene on Ky. 490

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott arrested a female subject at a single vehicle, non-injury traffic crash scene that he was called to investigate on Ky. 490, seven miles north of London, on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 8:58 p.m.

When Deputy Parrott arrived at the scene, he found a beige Toyota Prius had apparently ran off the roadway, hit a ditch and traveled approximately 50 feet before stopping. The driver — Kathy Cawood — told Deputy Parrott she fell asleep at the wheel because she was tired.

Deputy Parrott’s investigation determined Cawood was under the influence. She told Parrott she had taken Kalonopin earlier in the day.

Cawood, 40, of Allf Lane, London, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
