LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

A Laurel County man was seriously injured following a crash on west Ky. 80 in Pulaski County early Saturday morning.

Steven Cavan, 22, of London was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash. He has since been discharged.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Cavan was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on Ky. 80 near Eastway Grocery and Gas.

Deputy Jason Lay said it appeared Cavan ran off the road on the left side, went over the median, and overturned several times before coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Cavan had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Somerset-Pulaski County Rescue Squad.

The roadway was completely shut down for about an hour following the wreck, which happened around 6:30 a.m.

The wreck is still under investigation.

Also assisting at the scene were Pulaski County Public Safety Director Tiger Robinson, EMS, and the Shopville-Stab Volunteer Fire Department.
