Indiana fugitive caught shoplifting

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

A man who said he had just been released from prison was back in jail after a shoplifting arrest on Friday.

Robert D. Osborne, 31, of Henry Barton Lane in Corbin, told police he took items from the Corbin Walmart store because he needed the money. Osborne was detained by Walmart’s Loss Prevention team after he tried to leave the store with merchandise he had not paid for. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was called in, and Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter then charged Osborne with shoplifting and public intoxication of a controlled substance.

A check on Osborne revealed he was wanted by three different law enforcement agencies in Indiana for felony theft charges. Osborne was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center where he is being held under a $25,000 cash bond.
