Trucker vandalizes repair shop

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

A truck driver needing items from his broken-down truck took matters into his own hands after the repair shop closed.

Camelin Abraham, 48, of Phoenix, Ariz., reportedly had his truck in the Boss Shop near Love’s Truck Stop on Ky. 770 in southern Laurel County on Wednesday night. Abraham realized he had some items in the truck and began calling the garage to gain access inside. When the business owners refused to open for Abraham’s convenience, the trucker allegedly became angry and threatened to break out a window to get to his truck.

Around 1:30 a.m., Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Mikey Ashurst was sent to the shop after a report was received about a broken window at the garage. A surveillance video showed Abraham breaking out the window, then fleeing the scene toward a nearby business.

Ashurst located Abraham there and placed him under arrest on charges of third-degree criminal mischief. Damage to the business is estimated at approximately $500. Abraham was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center and scheduled for an arraignment hearing in Laurel District Court on Friday morning (today).
