Man arrested for disturbance, intoxication

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — The reason 49-year-old Edward Steele refused to leave a residence on Felts School Road, 13 miles south of London, on Tuesday afternoon was not released, but Steele now faces charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place and second-degree criminal trespassing charges stemming from the incident.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Steve Hoskins answered the call concerning a man who was refusing to leave a residence around 3:48 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found Steele, who is listed in jail records as “homeless,” outside a Felts School Road residence. Steele was reportedly highly intoxicated.

Steele was arrested and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center. Jail records indicate Steele was also charged with third-degree terroristic threatening. He was scheduled to appear in Laurel District Court Wednesday morning at which time he pled guilty to the alcohol intoxication and criminal trespassing charges. He was ordered to pay a $25 fine for the alcohol charge, $184 in court costs, and 90 days in jail, which was probated for 24 months on the condition of no further violations and no contact with the homeowner or the property where he was arrested.

On the additional charge of terroristic threatening, Steele pled guilty and was ordered to pay $184 in court costs and serve 60 days in jail, which was probated for two years on the condition he have no further violations and no contact with the victim.
