LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Six persons involved in a break-in and theft of a vehicle last week are being sought by police.

The break-in of R&S Truck Repair on U.S. 25, one-half mile north of London, resulted in the theft of a Suzuki Samurai and incurred damage to a chain link fence surrounding the property.

The vehicle theft was reported around 8:23 p.m. on Monday, April 29. According to information released in the case, two male subjects went to R&S Truck Repair, pulled up the fence and crawled under it. Just minutes later, the Samurai crashed through the front chain link fence and left the scene, headed south on U.S. 25.

The vehicle was found abandoned later that night, sitting in the middle of Old State Road, seven miles south of London. The vehicle had front end damage from the collision with the front gate of R & S. Although the vehicle had the keys inside at the time of the theft, the press release from the sheriff’s office states the Samurai had been hot-wired. Total damages to the fence and the vehicle are estimated at $5,000.

Surveillance video from the scene shows the subjects driving next door to a gas station. Three female subjects drove up in a small blue sports car with fancy wheels while three male subjects arrived in a silver Grand Am. The three females and one male went inside the station across the road, presumably to distract the employees while the other two men stole the vehicle from R&S.

Anyone with information on the identity of the subjects is urged to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600 or Laurel Dispatch at (606) 878-7000.
