LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Although he smelled of alcohol, 43-year-old Randy Hicks was arrested for drug paraphernalia when Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies answered the call of a domestic dispute.

The incident began on Sunday afternoon on Hawk Creek Road, nine miles west of London, when Hicks reportedly was threatening a female with a baseball bat. When Deputies Josh Scott and Larry Parrott arrived at the scene, they found Hicks standing in the driveway of the residence where the incident had taken place. As deputies talked with Hicks, they recognized the smell of alcohol. However, when Hicks was searched, he was found in possession of a marijuana pipe and learned he had smoked marijuana prior to the deputies arriving at the scene.

Hicks was arrested and charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia possession. He was lodged in the Laurel  County Detention Center following his arrest.
