LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

An argument that ensued to an intervening person lead to a chase by police through a wooded area of the county.

The incident began with a call that an intoxicated man was fighting with his girlfriend on Pine Grove Road, 13 miles south of London on Wednesday. Laurel Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputies Larry Parrott and Robbie Grimes went to the scene, at which time the male subject ran away.

The three officers chased the man, going over a half-mile through a wooded area before taking 18-year-old Tyler Honaker of Corbin into custody. Honaker was charged with fourth-degree assault, first-degree disorderly conduct, alcohol intoxication and second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. Honaker allegedly hit another person who tried to intervene between the argument between him and his girlfriend.

But even then, Honaker’s legal troubles were not over. He was additionally charged with an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear in court.

Honaker was lodged in the Laurel Detention Center.
