LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The basic rules of any relationship include trying to please one another.
But a Laurel woman who did what her boyfriend allegedly told her to do is now facing felony charges.
Sharon Johnson, 49, of White Oak Road in London, was arrested Saturday morning for shooting her boyfriend, 47-year-old Lonnie Bowling of Keavy, in the leg. Johnson told police the shooting incident occurred during a domestic argument in which Bowling reportedly told her to shoot him.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Scott, Sgt. Josh Gaylor and Deputy Shane Rice went to the residence on White Oak Road, nine miles west of London, around 9:30 a.m. where they found Bowling with the gunshot wound to the leg from a 9 mm pistol.
But while emergency workers and deputies were at the scene, an apparently intoxicated Johnson was disruptive with EMS workers and tried to disrupt the investigation.
She was arrested for first-degree assault, domestic violence; second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public intoxication of controlled substances. She was arraigned in Laurel District Court on Monday morning and placed under a $50,000 cash bond. She is set for a preliminary hearing in Laurel District Court on Oct. 29.
Bowling was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington by PHI helicopter for the gunshot wound.
Also assisting at the scene were Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Vanhook, EMS, and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
