DUI arrest on Old Whitley Road

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Shane Rice was dispatched to a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver driving a white Lumina on Lily Road on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 5:03 p.m.

Deputy Rice located the suspect vehicle on Old Whitley Road about two miles south of  London and noted the vehicle was swerving on the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted, and an investigation of the driver determined she was under the influence. The driver stated she had been taking suboxone, and Deputy Rice found the driver in possession of Xanax.

Shasta Couch, 33, of London was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, no operator’s license, and possession of a controlled substance. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
