DUI and wanton endangerment arrest

Staff Writer

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Morris and Deputy Robbie Grimes were dispatched to a complaint of a possible subject drinking alcoholic beverages  in the parking lot of some apartments off west Ky. 80 on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation, other complaints were given to them on scene. While working on their multiple investigations, a male subject whom they had spoken to earlier came back outside to the apartment parking lot. While deputies were questioning him for suspicion of driving under the influence, the subject got into his vehicle and accelerated quickly almost running over Deputy Grimes. After a brief struggle with both deputies, the subject was removed from the vehicle and arrested.

Robert R. Rotondi, 54, of London was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence;  third-degree assault  (victim a police officer), second-degree wanton endangerment (victim a police officer); and resisting arrest.

He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
