LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — When 25-year-old Justin S. Hamblin ran his car off the road Thursday morning, his troubles had just begun.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy John Inman answered the complaint of a man walking along Level Green Road, 12 miles west of London, around 8 a.m. Thursday. The complaint indicated the man could be intoxicated and had left the vehicle in a nearby ditch.

When Inman located the man, he determined Hamblin was intoxicated and placed him under arrest. Hamblin, of Flatwoods Frozen Camp Road in Keavy, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, third offense, and third offense of driving on a DUI-suspended license.

After further investigation, it was discovered Hamblin had also broken into an outbuilding of a residence nearby, using bolt cutters found in his car to cut the lock off the building. Several items taken from that building were found inside the vehicle.

Hamblin was additionally charged with third-degree burglary, as well as having four outstanding warrants from both Laurel and Whitley counties. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center following his arrest and arraigned in Laurel District Court on Friday morning. Hamblin is set for a May 13 hearing and lists a $10,000 bond for third offense DUI, a $500 cash bond on one headlight, and is not permitted bond on the theft by unlawful taking for shoplifting charge, according to records on Jail Tracker.
