LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A traffic checkpoint just after midnight Saturday resulted in the discovery of a quantity of marijuana and cash.

The checkpoint was conducted by the Kentucky State Police Post 11 at the intersection of U.S. 25 and Ky. 909 in northern Laurel County over the weekend. Around 12:33 a.m., 30-year-old Andrew Wilson of London approached the checkpoint in his green 1999 Jeep. As officers checked Wilson’s vehicle, they discovered a pound of processed marijuana as well as cash.

Wilson was charged with trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces, first offense, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to notify an address change to the Department of Transportation.

Trooper Adam Childress is continuing the investigation. He was assisted by KSP Sgt. Steve Walker, Trooper Jason McCowan, Laurel County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Walker, and Laurel County Constable Denver May.
