A Laurel County woman is behind bars after officers from the London Police Department received several complaints that she was trafficking drugs from her Falls Street home.

Brenda L. Henderson, 47, of 149 Falls St., was arrested Tuesday afternoon when officers executed a search warrant at her home.

According to London Police Chief Stewart Walker, the arrest stemmed from several complaints from concerned citizens saying Henderson’s home constantly has high traffic throughout the day and she was believed to be selling drugs to minors.

After investigating the complaint through a confidential informant, officers purchased approximately an ounce of marijuana from Henderson for $50 on two separate occasions.

Upon entering the home, officers found several minors in the residence along with several weapons, cash and less than 8 ounces of marijuana.

Officers also found two handguns, a long gun and approximately $6,000 in cash.

Henderson was arrested by Officer Joe Smith and was charged with trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces, first offense; endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers assisting were Chief Stewart Walker, Major Derrick House, Detective Gary Proffitt, Detective Stacy Anderkin, Sgt. Daniel Robinson, Sgt. Randy Medlock, Officer Ryan Jackson and Officer Ed Herd.

Detectives Joe Smith and Gary Proffitt are continuing the investigation and additional charges are pending.

Henderson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.  She is set for a hearing today (January 31).
