LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

In search of a reported intoxicated driver, Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott came face to face with the situation on Monday afternoon.

While Parrott was en route to locate a green Kia driven by a very intoxicated driver around Tom Cat Trail area on East Ky. 80, the vehicle pulled directly in front of him.

The vehicle crossed the centerline several times during the mile-long journey on Tom Cat Trail, approximately seven miles east of London, before the driver finally pulled over. When Parrott walked up to the window of the car, he smelled the strong odor of alcohol.

Parrott then began a roadside investigation and determined the driver — 66-year-old Bobby Nicholson of Tom Cat Trail in London — was indeed driving under the influence. Nicholson told Parrott he had drank approximately 12 beers. Nicholson was arrested and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
