Bell County man falls asleep driving

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Laurel County Sheriff John Root reported that Deputy Greg Turner investigated a one-vehicle injury traffic crash which occurred on Ky. 229, a mile south of London, on Thursday morning around 6:55 a.m.

The driver, Martin H. Green, 50, of Pineville received numerous injuries and was treated at the scene by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for further treatment.

Apparently Martin was in a pickup truck traveling northbound on Ky. 229 when he fell asleep at the wheel and lost control. He ran off the roadway and struck a wooden fence.

Assisting at the scene was London-Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Volunteer Fire department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and CSO John Harris.
