LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy  Greg Turner, along with Deputies Steve Hoskins and Robbie Grimes, were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint where a wife reported her husband struck her, was drinking vodka, and was out of control on American Greeting Card Road, eight miles south of London, on Tuesday at 7:06 p.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned Kalvin R. Young, 37, was armed with a pistol and stated he was going to make police shoot him. Young came out with an object in his hands, and then ran back inside the apartment. Deputies ordered him out, and when he came out, Young had a holster in his hand. A handgun was found inside the residence behind a couch. Deputies found red marks on the Young’s wife’s face, and determined he had struck her.

Young was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and public intoxication of a controlled substance.  He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
