Wanted subject arrested following foot chase

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Scott, assisted by Detective Charlie Loomis and Bailiff Brandon Broughton, arrested Shawn Asher, 25, of Philips Lane, London, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 1:51 p.m. after receiving a tip of the wanted man's whereabouts.

Law enforcement learned Asher might be at a residence on Somerset Road, four miles west of London.  With an arrest warrant for Asher, deputies arrived at the residence. The man who came to the door advised Asher was not there, however deputies heard a loud noise at the back of the residence as Asher attempted to flee out the back door. Deputy Scott pursued the subject on foot, tracking him through a briar thicket in a nearby woods. Following his tracking in the snow, deputies finally found Asher hiding under a mobile home.

Upon his arrest, Asher was found in possession of a white crystal substance. Additionally, Laurel Detention deputy jailers located contraband during a search of the suspect at the detention center.

Deputy Josh Scott damaged his uniform while pursuing the suspect.

He was charged on the original Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for theft by unlawful taking. Additionally, he was charged with second-degree fleeing and evading police, on foot; first-degree possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine, first offense; first-degree, promoting contraband; and second-degree criminal mischief.

Asher was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
