LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Parrott, while on routine patrol, observed an individual driving a black Subaru Legacy at a high rate of speed on Mitchell Creek Road at Lewiston Road, one mile west of London, on Sunday, Sept. 8 at around 6:38 p.m.
When Deputy Parrot attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, it sped up and swerved all over the road failing to stop, until the deputy pulled along side of the vehicle. After nearly losing control of his vehicle, the subject stopped and, following an investigation, the subject was arrested for reckless driving.
The driver was identified as David L. Schmidt, 28, of Waterworks Road, London. Schmidt told the deputy he did not see his blue flashing lights nor hear his siren because his music was too loud. He was also charged with having no insurance, no driver's license, and other traffic offenses. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
