LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A package sent to a Barbourville man resulted in an arrest and confiscation of marijuana.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Back and Deputy James Sizemore conducted the drug investigation on Saturday morning, arresting 24-year-old James P. Hembree Jr. of Fisher Cemetery Road in Barbourville for trafficking in marijuana.
The sheriff’s office received information concerning the package that contained 1.5 pounds of marijuana that was delivered to a Barbourville Road address by a delivery service. Around 10:30 a.m., Back and Sizemore arrested Hembree, charging him with trafficking in marijuana, between 8 ounces and 5 pounds, first offense. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center after his arrest.
