LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A good deed turned bad Thursday when a man, who was giving a woman a lift, allegedly robbed her in Clay County.
At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Kentucky State Police Post 11 received a report of a robbery on Belles Fork Road, approximately 25 miles east of London.
There, Trooper Jarrod Smith learned that a female victim had asked Manchester resident George K. Wagers, 24, for a ride. After the victim entered the vehicle and the pair was on their way, Wagers allegedly stopped, threatened the victim and demanded money.
The victim quickly complied and was released with no further harm.
Trooper Smith located the Manchester man a short distance from where the robbery allegedly occurred. He placed Wagers under arrest and charged him with second-degree robbery. He is currently housed in the Clay County Detention Center.
According to a press release via Trooper Lloyd Cochran, Public Affairs Officer at Post 11, Trooper Smith is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Josh Cox.
