Woman arrested for assaulting spouse


Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies Larry Parrott and Charlie Johnson, a forest service officer and Kentucky State Police officer responded to a complaint from dispatch that there was a domestic dispute between two individuals at a residence on London Dock Road, 19 miles west of London, on Sunday, March 23 at 6:57 p.m.

Officers were responding to a complaint that a female subject had assaulted her husband and was threatening him with a shotgun. When they arrived at the scene, officers could hear the two individuals inside the residence yelling at each other. Officers conducted an investigation and learned that the male subject had allegedly been struck two times – once in the facial area, and once in the neck. A shotgun was located leaning against a wall in the same room as the female subject.

Deputy Larry Parrott arrested Sylvia Bowman, 55, of London Dock Road, London, who was charged with fourth-degree assault – domestic violence. In addition, she was charged on two Laurel County bench warrants of arrest for failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence. In addition, she was charged on a Knox County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Bowman was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
