LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —

LONDON — A London man who evaded police as one of the Sheriff’s “Most Wanted” has been captured.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Department Special Response Unit (S.R.U.), commanded by Lt. Chuck Johnson, arrested a wanted fugitive on Friday, Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at a residence on Old Union Church Road in London. Information was developed by Detective Jason Back, along with assistance from the London –Laurel Crime Stoppers.

Ryan Segraves, 27, of the same address, was arrested and charged with second-degree wanton endangerment; escape, fleeing and evading police, and numerous other charges. He had been placed on the Sheriff’s Most Wanted list after a short pursuit along Brown Road, off  Ky.  638, on July 31, 2013.

He had been sought  previously for failing to appear in Laurel District Court on two bench warrants, and on July 23, he had escaped custody while handcuffed in the back seat of Constable Tim May’s police cruiser, and had cut off the handcuffs.

On July 31, Segraves was observed traveling Brown Road. But when Sheriff’s Deputy John Inman began following him, Segraves engaged in a short chase, fled into a relative’s house, and out the back door into the woods.

Segraves’ history includes violating probation conditions and engaging in a pursuit with police. He was also charged with leaving  his young child in a car in near-100 degree heat while he played video games inside a nearby store.

Sheriff’s officers completed two more arrests that evening.

Shannon Johnson, 25, of Sun Fire Lane, Corbin was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension.

Alesha Wagers, 29, of Memory Lane, London was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension.

All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
