LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Two men were arrested last week for domestic violence in separate incidents.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter went to Laurel Lake Road North, 13 miles south of London, around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, regarding a female being held against her will. When deputies arrived at the scene, no one would come to the door.
The deputies gained entrance to the home where they found 44-year-old James R. Dinkins of Laurel Lake Road North standing over a woman who had been assaulted. The female had cuts on her arms and face and a bruise on her chin.
Dinkins was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center. He remains incarcerated on a $2,500 cash bond.
Just an hour after dealing with that situation, Deputy Greg Turner and Deputy Robbie Grimes responded to a second domestic incident in which 36-year-old Roger Abner of Braxton Lane in London was arrested.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the deputies answered a call of a domestic dispute on Braxton Lane, four miles south of London, around 9 p.m. In that incident, a female arrived home from work to find Abner in her bed. The woman allegedly had a domestic violence order against Abner, prohibiting him from being at her residence, around her or her children.
After confirming the EPO, Abner was arrested and charged with violation of a Kentucky DVO. He reportedly was intoxicated at the time of the arrest. Abner was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center but was released the following afternoon.
