Meth maker arrested

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — The search was on last week for the second of two men involved in an altercation after making meth at a residence.

Laurel County Sheriff’s officials were seeking Tab Kendall McGhee, 37, for manufacturing methamphetamine last fall. He was captured on Saturday afternoon by London Police Officer Ryan Jackson, according to records from the Laurel County Detention Center.

McGhee’s accomplice, 48-year-old Jeffrey McGhee was captured on Jan. 3. Both men were listed on the Laurel Sheriff’s Office’s “Most Wanted” list. Both were indicted on Dec. 21 for manufacturing methamphetamine and assault, following an incident on Sept. 30 in which they were involved in a fight with two neighbors who complained of a toxic odor coming from the residence where both men were staying.

Tab McGhee allegedly hit one man in the head with an aluminum flashlight, while Jeffrey tried to run over the second man with a truck. Tab McGhee fled the scene, but was captured later. Jeffrey went to jail at the time of the incident.

Both men were held in jail from Sept. 30 until early December, when they were released after exceeding the 60-day limit for an indictment for a felony offense. Tab was released on Dec. 10, and Jeffrey was released on Dec. 4. However, a Laurel grand jury did return an indictment on Dec. 21, but neither man was present to answer the indictment, nor did they turn themselves in after that. A warrant of arrest was issued for both men.
