London woman arrested after children found in unfit living conditions

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — April Cathers, 26, of 105 Ballsinger St. in London  was arrested by London Police Officer Jacob Bormann and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, five counts.  

On Saturday, Nov. 17, Bormann responded to a complaint of two juveniles walking into South Main and Ballsinger streets.  

Through investigation police revealed the two children had left their 105 Ballsinger St. home, one block away from where they were found.  Officers found Cathers, their mother, at the residence.  The living conditions at the home were considered unfit and officers observed dog and cat feces throughout the home as well as raw sewage in the floor of the bathroom.  In addition, moldy food was found on the counters and floor, no beds were to be found in the home and Cathers advised they all slept on two couches and one chair.

An investigation is being continued by the London Police Department and Family Based Services.
