LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The 2012 kick-off event for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at River of Life Fellowship in London, located on East Fourth Street across from the Christian Shelter for the Homeless.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. A prayer will be given for God’s blessing on this year’s ministry and, for those who have not participated in the program in the past, it is a chance to learn about the ministry and what items are allowed/not allowed in the shoeboxes.
The goal this year is to collect 3,500 boxes in Laurel County.
In 2011, Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, brought joy and hope to 8 million children worldwide through simple gift-filled shoeboxes and evangelistic materials. The Laurel County shoebox collection is in its fourth year.
