LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
As part of the Appalachian Heritage Series, the Laurel County Public Library is proud to present an evening of zany and fun-filled “Appalachian Jack Tales and other Whoppers” told by popular Knoxville storyteller Tommy Oaks.
Oaks is the first person in the world to graduate with a master’s degree in storytelling and he has perfected the skills necessary to effectively present these tales to all types of audiences.
In brief, a Jack Tale follows the hero Jack, as he sets out to “seek his fortune.” He often must complete tasks during his journey. It is Jack’s characteristics as both naïve and compassionate, crafty and opportunistic, that make him successful.
This free event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will be enjoyed by all ages.
Registration is appreciated for planning purposes. Register online at www.laurellibrary.org or call Gwen at 606-864-5759.
