‘Christmas Express’ runs through Saturday

The Belle Bennett Players began their production of “The Christmas Express” Nov. 13 at The Belle Bennett Building on The Bennett Center campus. The play runs through Nov. 21.

Set in a Colorado train station in the dying town of Holly, “The Christmas Express” recalls the heyday of passenger trains running through the tri-counties.

Station-master Hilda Trowbridge spends her days in a fog of nostalgia for the old days of the bustling train station, waiting for the train that will take her to far-off places and away from Holly, “the most hopeless place on earth” even at Christmas time. When two mysterious strangers arrive, Hilda and her fellow townspeople have something to talk about, new challenges and, maybe, something to hope for.

Remaining performances are Nov. 20 and 21. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show time is at 7:30 each night. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. For more information call 606- 878-7823.
