Lady Jags roll past Lady Commodores

North Laurel beats Perry Co. Central 8-0

The North Laurel Lady Jaguars brought their two seniors, Kayla Bargo and Tiffany Scott, to the game in style and they left the field in style with an impressive 8-0 win over Perry County Central on Senior Night.

After arriving in a limousine, the two seniors played their last regular season game in front of a nice crowd.

“It was a great way to send the girls out on Senior Night,” North Laurel coach Naomi Puskar said. “Bargo had many shots on goal, she is a phenomenal player and has a great left foot. Scott control’s our defense and has played great for us. I have enjoyed working with them and they will be missed.”

The Lady Jags jumped on top early with two quick goals. In the sixth minute of play Corey Huff scored for the 1-0 advantage. Less than three minutes later, Kayla Maxey found the back of the net for the 2-0 led.

“It was a great start,” Puskar said. “We knew we needed an early goal and we got two of them.”

Bargo added the third Lady Jaguar goal during the 17th minute of play as the home team took a dominating 3-0 lead and never looked back.

The Lady Jaguars never let up after the half-time break and scored five goals in the second half. Rachel Lewis and Bargo scored in the first 12 minutes of the half for the 5-0 advantage. Bargo’s goal came off a corner kick by Amy Patton.

Katie Corso gave the Lady Jags the 6-0 lead during the 56th minute of play and Lindsey Evans added a goal for the 7-0 advantage. Stephanie Passow found the back of the net in the last minute of play to round out the scoring at 8-0 in the Jags favor.

“I am very pleased with the way they played tonight,” Puskar said. “They passed great and worked the ball around better.”

North Laurel will now face Middlesboro at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the district tournament at Middlesboro. The winner of that game will take on the winner of tonight’s South Laurel-Corbin game Thursday, also at 4 p.m.
