Rand Paul’s campaigning inappropriate at event

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — To the editor:

On Saturday afternoon, an overwhelming spirit of community and national pride filled the streets of downtown London. The crowd enthusiastically welcomed Vietnam veterans home and remembered the fallen — 40 years late. It was finally their day of appreciation and a day to honor all veterans and thank them for their service. Why then, would the Rand Paul campaign impose on the day to hand out campaign flyers? This blatant show of disrespect should not be rewarded or excused by an argument of the constitutional right to free speech. Veterans face eternity to protect the rights we all enjoy so isn’t it right to allow them their day in the sun without political intrusion? God bless the veterans.
