Thanks to volunteers of military mail project

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Thanks to volunteers

of military mail project

To the editor:

As we prepare for upcoming Christmas and Valentine mail collections, Friends of Our Troops Headquarters would like to extend special thanks to those who participated in the most recent campaign:

Steele’s Chapel Christian Church of Corbin, led by Lisa Bates and Sherry Snyder, which was No. 1 in Kentucky as well as one of the top churches in the nation;

American Legion Auxiliary No. 88, also of Corbin. Led by Brenda Berry, they were the No. 1 American Legion Auxiliary in Kentucky and in the top 10 nationally. The Auxiliary had members from Corbin, Williamsburg and Lily, with five preparing 100 or more pieces of mail.

Participating with American Legion Auxiliary No. 88 was Disabled American Legion Auxiliary No. 158 of Keavy. The DAV Auxiliary had members from Keavy, London and Corbin.

Cards and letters are received from all across the nation, mixed thoroughly, then divvied up into hundreds of packages, both large and small, to be sent to military units across the U.S. and around the world.

As the continuation of the Vietnam Mail Call project which was launched in 1965, this mail has been boosting the morale of our men and women in uniform for almost a half-century.

Anyone who would like to know how to join the Fan Mail for the Troops campaign can receive complete information and instructions by sending their name and mailing address to Friends of Our Troops, P.O. Box 65408, Fayetteville, N.C., 28306.

The troops will thank you, and so do we.

Ben Wiser

Executive Director
